Blessed Carlo Acutis Catholic School is a fully inclusive 3-16 school, located deep in heart of the Welsh valleys, in Merthyr Tydfil. Blessed Carlo Acutis Catholic School is the result of a merger of 3 primary campuses and one secondary campus, historically known as St Aloysius Primary, St Illtyds Primary, St Marys Primary and Bishop Hedley High School. Serving as the main faith based education site for the Heads of the Valleys, our catchment area spans from Brynmawr in Blaenau Gwent to Glynneath in Neath Port Talbot, with other feeder primary schools in the area; All Saints Primary Ebbw Vale, St Josephs Primary Tredegar and St Margarets Primary Aberdare.
Currently the school is still operating on the four pre-existing separate sites whilst our exciting new school is in the process of being built. Years of planning, consultations and meetings have gone into the new build to ensure it meets the needs, interests and abilities of all our learners. The new school will be located on what was previously phase 2 of Bishop Hedley High School, in Penydarren, Merthyr Tydfil. Please keep your eyes peeled for new build updates as and when they happen!
Whilst we operate on separate campuses, our Heads of Campus, along with all staff at all levels meet regularly to ensure all learners are afforded the same opportunities. Our learners also have opportunities to visit the other campuses and interact with their peers with Eisteddfod’s and various pupil voice groups amongst other things.
